The FAB Network

I wanted to get involved behind the scenes during fashion week.  Being a Twitter fanatic, I went under Twitter Search and typed in #fashionweek.  I found a volunteer position working for Boudoir D’huitres  on September 10th, at the Hosfelt Gallery (36th and 10th).  This opportunity was being offered by the FAB network (www.thefabnetwork.com).

Founder of FAB - Jessica Styles

FAB stands for fashion, arts and beauty and the founder is Jessica Styles (yes, that is her last name!).  This organization is a professional consulting company that assists with college students/young professionals with career and social opportunities.  I never heard of the FAB network before, so I started to do some research.  The website is user friendly and organized (job postings, volunteer opportunities, internships, etc) are posted on the right hand side, so you can click to any topic that you are interested in.  There is a blog that is entertaining, insightful and fun to read.  The blog talks about anything from fashion to landing your dream job.  The volunteer opportunities are great as well (especially when it comes to getting your foot in the door).

I had the opportunity to meet and work with Jessica.  She is a very talented, ambitious and outgoing.  Jessica used to work for BET/MTV as a National Accounts Coordinator and is now a life coach/founder of FAB.  She believes that everyone should have a mentor and that we need to be involved in networking (on and off the computer).  FAB started about a year and a half ago and it’s growing everyday with new followers.  People are starting to recognize the FAB network thru word of mouth.

Woman in New York look for organizations like FAB because it provides us with the opportunities that you are unable to achieve on your own.  FAB is all about helping you find a career that you are passionate about.  So if you didn’t join yet, then what are you waiting for? It’s free and fun, plus it will benefit you in the long run.  I want to end off by saying, “As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost.  And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.”
